What to know
We’ve Been Selected for This Exhibition Public Filming of an Unrealized Performance @nusimakina @lopardinanadya 17.10.26 18:00 Free entry In September 2026, we were invited to participate in Sofia Art Week in Bulgaria, which will take place from October 24 to November 1. We were excited, started preparing, and contacted the Bulgarian Embassy in Serbia to apply for visas. Almost immediately, we received a reply saying that the earliest available appointment for submitting our applications was in October 2027. Obviously, we can’t go. But we’ve decided to film a performance and send the video to the festival. This is how a new performance emerged — a response to the despair of being unable to travel freely outside Serbia. We will be filming a reenactment of Alexander Brener’s performance They Didn’t Let Me into This Exhibition (1994), in which the artist transforms rejection by an art institution into a public act of protest. More than thirty years later, we find ourselves in a similar situation, except that, unlike Brener, we were actually accepted into the exhibition. It’s the country that won’t let us in. The entire filming process will be open to the public. From 18:00 until late in the evening, you’ll be able to observe what’s happening, and at some point, we might invite the audience to join in.
