Finissage of the exhibition “Tangenta”
Saturday, 7 November, 5 PM
Join us for the closing programme of the exhibition “Tangenta”, featuring an artist talk with Alisa Sizykh and a lecture by Ula Karotki.
Starting from her installation “Letters on Peace”, Alisa Sizykh will reflect on dialogue as an artistic method and a form of resistance to political disengagement. Drawing on a personal email correspondence that became a public archive of conflict, she will address the possibilities and limits of dialogue in situations of political disagreement, as well as the ethics of remaining engaged when communication becomes difficult.
In their lecture “LGBTQ+ Resistance to Authoritarianism in Belarus Before and After the 2020 Uprising”, Ula Karotki will explore the history of LGBTQ+ activism in Belarus, focusing on activist performances that challenged the conservative state, disrupted the public space of Minsk, and reappropriated Soviet public memory as a way of asserting belonging in Belarusian society.
